Preceptions of our politicans

In today's society our political candidates are all trying to achieve a public image. Most today are trying to say that they are someone who really they are not. however that does not really mater. what matters is what they are trying to do to convince people that they are just one of us. however was it always like this. it is my opinion that in the past our politicians were not trying to convince people that they were one of the every day average joe's who we meet on a street corner or on a bus stop. i believe that at one point our politicians were trying to make themselves look a thousand times better than the average man. they wanted you to look up to them. they wanted to say i am better than you and more educated than you. therefore i deserve to lead you and this country. maybe it was better that way. people thinking that our leaders were some kind of sooper heors instead of our next door neighbors. today our current president and almost every politican are trying to show themselves as the american or imagrant that was poor and through hard work a little luck made there way up to the top of the food chain. they all nowdays grew up in single family homes with people who abused them or lost their jobs or died. they all have stories of how their race, their wealth or their circumstances was a obstacle to overcome. they keep trying to tell the people that they were the kid down the block. or that young hopeful youth in school that dreamed of being the president and that one day actually did become president. our politicians are putting on cowboy hats and overalls, they are picking up trash and doing just about everything they can to show that they are humble and one of the people. personally i don't want a man or a woman to lead me if they just like my kids in my class or the guy down the street. i feel that like in the older days our politicians should instead be proving that they are extraordinary. they should show that they excelled in school, or on the battlefield. that they have experience knowing what it is like to be poor but now they are rich and it is because they not the everyday average smuck who sits around on his porch with his hopeful dreams yet never takes any Acton. once upon a time in the birth of our country our forefathers were painted as great men and women who rose above the ranks and lead this country to freedom. in the portraits of these men you see men who are cold and untouchable. they are in poses of kings and queens. our first president was known for being a war veteran and hero. he was known for being extremely smart and courageous. then there was Ben Franklin who was known for being a man of extreme genius. he was the science guy of the group and loved to invent things. men like Thomas Jefferson where famous for their writing skills, extraordinary education and influence on the other men of society. they did not attempt to say yes i am just like the guy next store who made whiskey. no they are ingrained in our memories as men who defied the odds and who lead this country in ways no other man or woman could. nowadays if a man or woman has experience in the military they are called a war monger er or if they have a lack of experience they are said to be unfit to lead the military as commander and chief. our presidents need to be icons of strength and tenacity. they need to be unwilling to compromise and feared. as it was written by the famous Italian author Machiavelli, the book The Prince tells us how a leader needs to be feared and respected. leaders need to present themselves as having more knowledge and experience than ten or twenty men put together. our children and our people need to look up to our leaders. if they are average then they think in average ways, act in their own self interest and are not the matters we want for our country and its ideals. one man that stood above the rest in the past was Douglass MacArthur. he in truth was maybe a little crazy. however he is remembered for being first and foremost and strong general and and a man who won many battles for the innocent people who were being attacked. he is portrayed in our past as the man who many children should grow up to be. he inspired people to become better fighters and better people. he did not do this by acting weak or depressed. he did not say i am just like you men i know how you feel. he was undaunting in character. in his final speech that he gave to congress he spoke of his many achievements and how great he was. this speech can be found on American rhetoric.com. he was met with roaring applause and the people loved him.
over our history many people wish that they could be rock stars or superheros. our politicians are in a way just that if they choose to be. what about demigods? these were men in our history that inspired thousands to follow them. they lead political parties, rallies, social movements and wars. men like martin Luther king were seen almost as angles or gods as the term suggest. they were leaders and they took the reigns and went with that title.
it is my personal opinion that yes it is comforting to know that our politicians come from humble backgrounds but also we need politicians who come from extraordinary backgrounds. men and women who come out of the fire and inspire this nation. this is what our nation needs. this is what over countries need to see. our leaders need to be unstoppable in their tracks. people of other countries should be anxious when they are about the meet the great president of the united states, the leader of the free world. not just that guy that got elected because the people like him. our leaders need to be great. that is what this country once had. why cant they have it again. why can't America have leader that our children can look up to in awe. these men and women should be the giants of our time not the most popular. popularity is for high school. this country needs more than that. no matter what party you belong to or what party is in office, they need to stop trying to look humble and start looking like the leaders we so desperately need and deserve.
